One of the success stories we’re really proud to share with you here at the Innovation World Cup HQ is that of Sigfox, a rapidly growing startup and winner of the 2013 IoT/M2M Innovation World Cup’s Energy Category. Based in France, Sigfox is revolutionizing the way we interact with data, devices and the world around us. By connecting the physical world to the cloud, their mission is to make things come alive. They have built a new network the powers with Internet of Things by using low energy consumption and are expanding rapidly throughout the world.

To date the company has secured around $150 million in funding from various investor across a wide range of industries. In the financial sector they have investors such as Elliot Management and Partech Ventures, and in the field of chip and equipment manufacturing their investors include big players Intel and Samsung. Further investment has come from strategic backers Air Liquide and from network service providers Eutelsat, Japan’s NTT, Telefonica and many more.

Sigfox already has over 8 million low-powered devices registered on its network, connecting over 358 million people across 1.35 million km². It also works with more than 1000 partners, including network operators, equipment manufacturers, service providers, integrators and platform developers all over the world. To grow its capabilities, Sigfox has over 250 startups developing IoT projects for their network, including connected home applications, water management services and many more.
