3rd Smart Building Smart Construction Innovation World Cup®
More than one hundred start-ups, scale-ups and ground-breaking SMEs worldwide entered their software and IoT solutions & services in the 3rd Smart Building Smart Construction Innovation World Cup®. They demonstrated how they are advancing the industry across the Construction, Real Estate, Smart City & Environment sectors, and what the future of the industry´s supply chain, infrastructure, workers´ safety looks like. The jury experts selected the TOP10 Smart Building Smart Construction Innovators 2020 who pitched their solution live on the vrtual stage of BIM World Munich Digital 2020. The winner of the 3rd Smart Building SMart Construction Innovation World Cup was announced: PURE Applikationen GmbH & Co.KG (Germany) with their innovative solution MR+MRS HOMES – 3D house configurator. A great applause to the runner-ups aurivus GmbH (Germany), Evercam Ltd (Ireland). 9th MEDICA Start-Up Competition
The 9th MEDICA Start-up COMPETITION (until 2019: MEDICA App COMPETITION) received over a hundred of submissions from 33 nations. Healthcare start-ups entered their solutions in AI in healthcare, diagnostics, health apps and robotics. The competition aims to take the connected medical innovations to an advanced level, by easing the work of doctors with mass healthcare data collection, real-time vital signs monitoring, omni-evaluation with in-house and remote patients around the globe. TOP12 Medical Start-Ups were selected by international jury experts for the finals at the MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM, the innovation hotspot at virtual.MEDICA 2020. Finally, the top3 medical innovators were awarded: 1st place Radiobotics (Denmark), 2nd place: BeFC (France), 3rd place: ETH Zürich/MY LEG. The TOP3 Medical Start-ups 2020 are now officially part of the MEDICA ecosystem of healthcare experts, companies and investors coming from over 170 countries, as well as of the Innovation World Cup Series HALL OF FAME. 8th MEDICA App COMPETITION 2019
The MEDICA App COMPETITION powered by Roche & Bayer G4A is unique of its kind in searching for the best app- and platform-based medical solutions. The 8th edition was a blast, with the official Pitch & Award Ceremony taking place at the 6th MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM, the hotspot for digital healthcare in MEDICA, Düsseldorf on 19th November 2019. 15 finalists from all continents impressed the jury with their presentations and product demonstration live on stage. Finally, the top3 winners were announced: (1) SyNphNe (Singapore) with a connected wearable solution that trains brain and muscle for persons with disability after stroke or injury, or due to aging. (2) DeePathology.ai (Israel) with a customized AI solution for digital pathology. (3) Midge Medical (Germany) with a device and app for simplified blood extraction and testing. TECH START-UP 2019
The TECH START-UP 2019 AWARD powered by Würth Elektronik introduced the top 12 future tech superstars. The pitch and award ceremony took place at StartupCon, for the first time co-hosted with DIGITAL X in Cologne. The jury on board from Würth Elektronik, EBV Elektronik, Microtronics, VARTA Microbattery, High-Tech Gründerfonds and Coparion had a challenging task to select the top 3 winners from industrial, city, healthcare, transport, sports & lifestyle, and agriculture industries. The competition was a blast and the winners benefited greatly from the extended business network and supports from StartupCon, Innovation World Cup® Series and international leading corporate partners.
Smart Territory Digital Challenges 2019
The Smart Territory Digital Challenges 2019 first edition supported by BIM World Paris was a great playground for start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs who aimed to take the lead in smart construction, smart building and innovative urban planning. The contestants could demonstrate how they were shaping the future of the industry and making our territories smart across four different categories: Construction | Real Estate | Smart City | and Environment. Remarkable start-ups gathered on the stage of the BIM World Paris on April 2nd, 2019 to live pitch their cutting-edge solutions to the board of jurors and exciting audiences. 10th IoT/WT Innovation World Cup®
The 10th IoT/WT Innovation World Cup® 2018/2019 powered by STMicroelectronics, Gore, EBV Elektronik, Gemalto, Würth Elektronik, AiQ Smart Clothing, VARTA Microbattery, Microtronics, and Cicor Group was an extraordinary edition. The race included the categories: Industrial | Healthcare | Transport | Lifestyle | Retail | Home | City | Agriculture | Sports & Fitness | and Gaming. Additionally, the innovators had the chance to run for five special prizes supported by the competition’s partners. The Tech Start-Up 2018 powered by StartupCon was a celebration for the most outstanding tech start-ups selected by an international jury of experts according to the degree of innovation, market readiness and technological feasibility. The competition took place in Cologne's LANXESS arena at Start-Up innovation summit, the largest start-up conference in Germany on September 18th-19th, 2018. IoT/M2M Innovation World Cup® 2016/2017
The IoT/M2M Innovation World Cup® 2016/2017 was a blast! The competition covered five categories namely Smart City | Industrial | Automotive | Transport, Logistics & Surveillance | and Healthcare. Beyond that, the special prize "Smart Building & Home Automation" powered by Bosch and the “Security Award” powered by Gemalto were awarded. The award ceremony took place at Google´s Headquarters in New York City on July 8th, 2015 in front of an international audience and press representatives.

Cloud Innovation World Cup® 2013/2014 was powered by Allianz Digital Accelerator, CloudEO, Gemalto, EuroCloud, SIIA, and Cloud World Forum. The race addressed new application areas of cloud-based innovations for all relevant markets and industries, such as Smart Living | ICT Business Services | Mobility | Urban Infrastructure | and Industry 4.0. Additionally, the Cloud Innovation World Cup® partnered with CloudEO, an online collaboration platform to create, interpret, use, and market GEO content and services, for the “GEO Award” to seek solutions that integrated Geo-spatial information and provided additional benefit to the cloud based service offered. Furthermore, partner Allianz Digital Accelerator enriched the Cloud Innovation World Cup® 2013/2014 with the "Evolve Insurance Award". Allianz Digital Accelerator initiated the special prize to foster the development of smart wearable devices and cloud solutions that have an impact on safe living. The Cloud Innovation World Cup® "Innovators of the Year", as well as the winner of the "Evolve Insurance Award" were celebrated in June 2014 in London, during the Cloud World Forum.
M2M Challenge 2012–2014
M2M Challenge, the leading award in the field of machine-to-machine (M2M) and communications, was initiated in 2012 with partners Swisscom, Ericsson, Telit, VARTA Microbattery and Gemalto. Since the contest was first launched, hundreds of participants submitted their innovative solutions in the M2M field across the categories Mobility, Healthcare, Security and Consumer Electronics & more. The contest became a huge success, gathering the attention of important industry players such as Intel, Gemalto and MediaTek, which became partners of the open innovation platform. Since 2014, the M2M Challenge runs under the name IoT/M2M Innovation World Cup®, which is the leading innovation competition in the IoT/M2M field.
WT | Wearable Technologies Innovation World Cup® 2013
The WT | Wearable Technologies Innovation World Cup® 2013 was a great success. The competition brought up excellent wearable solutions in application to Sports & Fitness | Healthcare & Wellness | Security & Prevention | and Gaming & Lifestyle. Additionally, three special prizes namely: "Smart Clothing" powered by AiQ Smart Clothing, "blukii App 2.0" powered by C. The competition saw the growth of Wearable Technologies as an enormous business potential and received innovative solutions to wearable devices in a wide range of sectors namely: Sports & Fitness | Healthcare & Wellness | Security & Prevention | and Gaming & Lifestyle. Solutions using wireless data transfer technology such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth®, ZigBee® and cellular were for the first time submitted to the exciting competitions. The WT Innovation World Cup was the tribute payer to the expanding market, as well as the accelerating platform for techpreneurs worldwide, who aimed to take the leads in Wearable Technologies.
Bluetooth Innovation World Cup® 2011
The Bluetooth Innovation World Cup® 2011 recognized the third year of consecutive successes. The competition was powered by Texas Instruments (Title Sponsor), Freescale semiconductor, Ellisys (Preferred Technology Partners), Bluegiga, STMicroelectronics, Nordic Semiconductor and VARTA Microbattery (Sponsors). This special edition focused on ideas and prototypes, especially when the presentation of working prototypes would mean an idea was no longer a vision but reality. Bluetooth low energy technology was out there now, in the marketplace! The competition entries opened on May 1st, 2011 and since then, welcomed numerous of contestants around the globe. The submissions indicated the importance of applying Bluetooth low energy technology in Healthcare | Sports & Fitness | Automotive | Consumer Electronics | and Smart Home Markets. Contestants could additionally receive development kits supported by Texas Instruments and Freescale Semiconductor to help further develop prototypes.
Bluetooth Innovation World Cup® 2010
The second edition of the Bluetooth Innovation World Cup® 2010 was powered by Anritsu (Preferred Technology Partner), Nordic Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics, Suunto and Texas Instruments. The Bluetooth Innovation World Cup® 2009 was powered by Nokia (main sponsor), Freescale Semiconductor (Preferred Technology Partner), Brunel, Nordic Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics, and Texas Instruments. The Bluetooth Innovation World Cup®, organized by Navispace AG for the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), received submissions from hundreds of forward-looking developers around the world. The ideas made use of the unique characteristics of Bluetooth low energy technology, such as very low power consumption, and the possibility of transforming entire industries with a simple, secure and super-efficient networking technology. The award was presented at ISPO, the world’s largest sporting goods trade show, on February 8th in Munich.
Galileo Masters / European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) 2004–2010
The Galileo Masters / European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) 2004–2010 was supported by partners: Anwendungszentrum Oberpfaffenhofen, Deutschen Zentrums für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR), European Space Agency (ESA), Navteq, and T-Systems. The ESNC, the world´s largest and most successful innovation competition for satellite navigation, was set up and organized by Navispace AG from 2004-2010. During this period, a whole ecosystem of around 20 international regions and 180 experts were set up. Since its inception, thousands of participants joined the competition. The contest is today the leading global network in the segment of global navigation systems, looking for new products, services and innovative businesses in the satellite navigation sector to encourage the use of satellite navigation in people´s everyday life.
