In a city, there are hundreds, if not thousands of underground ducts, which must be checked on a regular basis. Main reason for inspection: To identify pipe damage – water in the shaft is an indication for pipe damage, however the water can also come from rainwater. Today, a lot of municipalities face the issue of difficult-to-access ducts and shortage of manpower to regularly inspect the underground ducts.

Shaft Monitor is a battery-operated device capable of monitoring two sets of variables: Water level and temperature. Coupled with the wireless radio technology LoRaWAN™, it is able to transmit data from inside the shafts to a radio station on the outside.
