RoboMed

Munich, February 2024

RoboMed develops robotic-based solutions for human health: A robotic capsule for biopsy, endoscopy and microbiota sampling of small intestine streaming live via smartphone and synchronized VR/AR. This groundbreaking solution earned them the 2nd place in the WT Innovation World Cup 2023, hosted at the WT Wearable technologies Conference in Munich.

Our discussion with the RoboMed team proved to be incredibly insightful. Now, let’s further explore their journey to achievement.

  1. HOW DID IT ALL START?

Scaling down the current robotic systems and proposing novel mini robot mechanisms were part of our lead founder, Dr Yaser’s PhD thesis. This led to medical and diagnosis applications after a few years of industrial experience and observe the gap in the med-tech devices. It sparked in late 2019 and the team formed a year after that with the birth of RoboMed which the name is a portmanteau or blend of the words Robotics and Medical.

  1. WHAT ARE THE KEY MILESTONES YOU HAVE REACHED SO FAR?

So far the practical prototype is in the non-clinical tests and we’re preparing to move it forward to clinical trials in the next quarter. To reach this stage, almost 200K Euros were raised by soft grants and 200K Euros from the equity investment. As part of company IPR, the innovation and mechanism was patented and published.

  1. WHAT WERE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES YOU HAVE FACED?

The main and most important challenges to be considered are financial management, business plan and team spirit. These are the key aspects which secure the success of a startup, and they have to be updated in every stage and after each milestone.

  1. WHAT IS COMING IN THE NEAR FUTURE?

In our roadmap, clinical trials, CE assessment and supply chain of components for mass production are the next top priority steps to be accomplished.

5. DESCRIBE YOUR JOURNEY IN THE WT INNOVATION WORLD CUP® AND BEING THE TOP INNOVATOR?

Firstly, it’s so inspiring and exciting to be nominated and selected as the second place among all the participants. The opportunity to meet, talk and network with a variety of expert and elite attendees was so meaningful for us. Considering and implementing the feedback and ideas into our progress will impact our future direction and journey.

  1. YOUR THREE TIPS FOR UP-COMING STARTUPS

As you may face any expert in the exhibition, prepare enough material and yourself for every scenario; investment, employment, advisory panel, supply chain or advertisement. Be confident in yourself, your idea and the impact you’re going to make with your inspiration or innovation.

WE APPRECIATE THE FASCINATING INSIGHTS YOU’VE SHARED, AND WE EAGERLY ANTICIPATE WITNESSING YOUR FUTURE ENDEAVORS AND THE REMARKABLE STEPS YOU’LL MAKE AHEAD!
