Wearable Technologies Innovation World Cup: In search of promising innovators who will make our lives smarter

Herrsching / Munich, 02. June 2014 – STMicroelectronics, a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, fittingly kick-started this season´s Wearable Technologies Innovation World Cup rounds by officially unlocking the new candidates´ database. From June 1st until November 15th, 2014 developers and innovators from around the globe are invited to submit their contributions in wearable technologies in the categories Sports & Fitness, Healthcare & Wellness, Gaming & Lifestyle and Safety & Security. They will be competing for the ´Innovator of the Year´-prize and there are additional special prizes to be won in the categories Smart Clothing and blukii® App 2.0.

Wearable technologies have already been introduced in various levels of our daily lives. There is nevertheless extraordinary potential for development and improvement – both technologically as well as on the economical side of production. The adaption of these technologies is clearly demonstrated by the ongoing stream of new gadget market introductions as well as the accompanying buzz created by frequent expert (online) publications reviewing products and the underlying technology.
